Want to get your body lean, firm, and sculpted for those summer beach days? Or do you just want to have fun and feel good while doing a workout you actually enjoy?

Raising the bar for full body fitness in Vancouver, The Bar Method offers a total body workout that transforms your entire body and benefits your whole self.

With boutique fitness studios located in Yaletown and West Vancouver, The Bar Method offers the original barre workout originated by founder Burr Leonard. For students of all experience levels, the one-hour total body barre workout is designed to tone and reshape the entire body through a series of muscle strengthening exercises and stretching techniques, performed on or by the ballet barre.

For those completely new to barre practice, every Bar Method class is organized in a quick-paced, interval training fashion, with a focus on those low-impact, isometric movements designed to strengthen and sculpt your muscles, as well as integrating the body-elongating stretching practice of ballet dance conditioning.

The workout routine starts with a warm-up of upper-body exercises and push-ups, followed by a sequence of leg and seat work at the bar and core exercises on the floor. The method predominantly uses your own body weight for resistance along with a few basic props, including free weights, mats, and an exercise ball.

Students are continually challenged with endless variations of each exercise timed to the beat of the music. You will be able to work within your individual limits while also receiving the encouragement to challenge yourself. The fast pace of a barre class spikes the heart rate at different intervals to burn calories — not just in the studio, but long after.

The intended outcome of committing to a regular barre workout routine is a graceful, strong dancer-like body, including sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat, and elongated thighs, as well as improved posture and body alignment. Students can see remarkable results within just a few weeks, and leave each class feeling strong, confident, and poised!

As well, The Bar Method offers online barre classes through livestream. You can pick from 35 class times per week and from different class formats and join the instructor virtually for a safe and effective at-home workout.
