Port Moody’s Newport Village is a lively hub for food, music and local shopping all summer long.

If you’re lucky enough to live in Port Moody, you already know it’s a summertime gem. But even longtime locals might be surprised at just how much fun this city can pack into one summer.

Whether you’re chasing live music, licking BBQ sauce off your fingers or strolling through a village alive with local talent and charm—Port Moody is where summer memories are made.

And right in the middle of it all? Newport Village, a vibrant, open-air shopping district that’s perfect for those who love to shop intentionally without ever stepping foot in a big-box store.

Come hungry for Rib Fest

Nothing says summer like BBQ and you can enjoy the best of the season at the Rotary Rib Fest, happening July 18 to 20 at Rocky Point Park. It’s one of the Tri-Cities’ most beloved events and for good reason: seven award-winning ribbers, a craft beer garden featuring local Brewers Row favourites like Moody Ales and Twin Sails and live music all weekend long. It’s family-friendly, it’s fun and it’s fundraising for local causes, so every bite supports the community. What’s not to love?

Sweet summer sounds

When Rib Fest wraps, the good vibes keep flowing every Sunday at the Summer Sundays Concert Series (July 6–August 24). These free outdoor concerts take over the stage at Rocky Point with high-calibre acts ranging from JUNO winners to classic rock tribute bands like “Eagle Eyes” (The Eagles)  and “Steelin’ In The Years” (Steely Dan). Pack a blanket, bring a picnic and soak up a sunny afternoon surrounded by music lovers of all ages.

Discover live local talent

On Saturday, August 2, Newport Village too will come alive with Art Outside Port Moody—a celebration of live busking and open-air musical performances in one of the city’s most charming settings. Wander the walkways, coffee in hand, as local musicians fill the air with sound. It’s the kind of feel-good energy you just can’t find at a mall.

Explore Car-Free Day

Port Moody’s Car-Free Day takes over St. Johns Street on Sunday, August 17. From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., the city will close five blocks and host a huge street celebration, filled with local businesses, musicians, green transportation displays, delicious food and family-friendly activities.

And while you’re there? Enjoy a little shopping.
