The name Michelle Yu PREC*, Broker Owner of RE/MAX Real Estate Services, is synonymous with success when it comes to the real estate industry. With almost 30 years of experience behind her, and no sign of her slowing down ahead, Yu believes the time is right to actively expand her brokerage – but with a clear, new, modern vision. She seeks to create a legacy—to pass the baton if you will.

Reflecting on her evolution from a novice to a thriving brokerage owner and acclaimed realtor, Yu divulges her keys to success in the dynamic real estate industry:

  1. Strive for versatility; start by obtaining your real estate license and thoroughly understand the real estate rules and regulations.
  2. Familiarize yourself with various property types, and learn about how the age, style and character of a house impacts and dictates value.
  3. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the market and closely monitor interest rates.
  4. Gain insights into different cultures, family dynamics, and clients’ unique housing needs.
  5. Develop the ability to analyze figures of various property types so that you can offer better options and plans for buyers and sellers.
  6. Know the market trends. Learn about price strategies, and how to develop marketing plans.
  7. Learn the various forms of marketing and promotion tools available to create customized marketing plans for your clients, based on property characteristics and the target market.
  8. Real estate agents expand beyond people skills. Become tech-savvy by acquiring knowledge in areas like artificial intelligence and social media, which are pivotal in today's real estate industry.
  9. Excel in public speaking, gain confidence and be able to communicate comfortably with your clients.
  10. Every time you sell a property, remind yourself to help others who are less fortunate. Donate to charity, help in society.
