BC Ferries’ Nanaimo Quay market at Departure Bay and the Tsawwassen Quay are set to reopen Friday, June 26.

The market buildings, washrooms and some vendors will be open, with more vendors planning to reopen in the coming week.

BC Ferries is working with Quay Property Management to have pandemic restrictions in place as people resume travelling.

Safety measures include increased cleaning and sanitizing, no dine-in offerings, and increased control over foot traffic. People are being asked to follow signs and queue-control measures when visiting the markets.

Meanwhile, the Lands End market at Swartz Bay ferry terminal remains closed for now, although a BC Ferries representative said plans are to open it soon.

Travellers must wear face coverings at the terminals and on board a ferry if they are within two metres of another person.

Limited hot food and "grab-and-go" options are available on many routes now as well.
