West Coast Express commuter train service between Mission and Vancouver remains cancelled Friday morning, due to Thursday's blockade on Canadian Pacific tracks on the Pitt River Rail Bridge.

TransLink was forced to suspend service Thursday afternoon and evening, and subsequently issued a cancellation for Friday morning.

"We are unable to move trains, conduct necessary maintenance safety checks, and perform routine inspections this evening," explained TransLink via media release Thursday evening.

TransLink is urging West Coast Express commuters to seek alternate travel plans. They have established a bus bridge from Mission to Coquitlam Central Station, where passengers may then continue into Vancouver via SkyTrain. Those buses, however, are expected to be quite busy.

For updates on West Coast Express service for the remainder of Friday, passengers are asked to check TransLink's Twitter feed.
