Canada's flag carrier is offering passengers with flight delays and cancellations the opportunity to make free changes due to travel disruptions.
Massive labour disruptions across Italy and in Paris, as well as a storm affecting parts of the eastern United States, prompted Air Canada to offer free schedule changes to affected travellers.
Strong wind conditions and labour disruptions are prompting significant delays and flight cancellations on multiple routes connecting from or directly to Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
Travellers headed to Milan, Naples, Rome or Venice on Friday, June 20, can change their flight without penalty, space permitting.
Customers flying Boston, New York or New Jersey (BOS, JFK, EWR, LGA) can also make a one-time change to their booking.
Air Canada has also posted the one-time change fee waiver for travellers headed to Paris on Sunday, June 22, amid labour disruptions causing airport disruptions.
Tips for passengers from Vancouver
FlightAware's online flight tracker indicates YVR had eight flight cancellations over the past 24 hours. Additionally, YVR is reporting 11 delayed departing flights and 36 delayed arriving ones.
To change their flight, customers must retrieve their Air Canada booking online.
AC customers should check their flight status or call Air Canada's automated flight information system at 1-888-422-7533 before heading to the airport.
Nav Canada air traffic controller shortages have plagued YVR with flight delays and cancellations since April. Travellers on other routes could also be impacted by delays or cancellations related to them.
