Find out how you can save hundreds on direct, flights from Vancouver to Bangkok, Thailand on Air Canada.

Flights from Vancouver to Bangkok, Thailand typically cost a pretty penny (you won't be finding any $99 deals). But there are ways to save money--and time--on flights to the Southeast Asian hot spot.

From its vibrant, bustling city streets to its achingly beautiful beaches, Thailand offers some of the best places to soak in local culture, enjoy a wild night out, or lay back on a sparkling white sand shore.

According to Google Flights, the cheapest flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Bangkok International Airport (BKK) usually cost between $1,850 and $3,850.

But Canada's largest airline offers a non-stop option on the popular route for less than what you might pay for trips that involve one or more stops.

Fights to Bangkok from Vancouver on Air Canada for travel in December 2023

In November 2022, Air Canada announced that it would offer four nonstop flights weekly to the Thai capital from Vancouver.

The seasonal service is North America's only nonstop flight option to Bangkok, with YVR departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It returns from BKK on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Use the Google Flights price calendar to see what days the prices are lower, but you can expect to pay as little as $1,700 including all taxes and fees for a round-trip ticket, which is roughly $761 cheaper than usual.

There are flights in this price range starting in November and carrying through the winter with open availability.

Cheaper flights from Vancouver to Bangkok

There are other options available that cost less than the Air Canada option, but they come at a non-financial cost.

Folks who aren't fans of stopovers will have to endure at least one to get a marginally cheaper option, but travellers looking to save over $100 face three in at least one direction on their trip.

Travel comparison search engines like Flighthub and Skyscanner will serve up some of these options, but the possibility of missing a connecting flight, losing luggage, or simply the added travel time might not be worth the marginal discount.

Alternatively, you can book two one-way tickets and use the Google Flights price calendar to find the cheapest options. Prices start at $750 in either direction, but they will involve stops.
