Flair Airlines is offering cheap direct flights on two new routes to Mexico from Vancouver -- but they won't fly at the same time.

Flair Airlines has introduced a new service from Vancouver to Mexico that is slated to take off next year.

Starting in May 2024, Canada's ultra-low-cost carrier will fly from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

Flair Airlines CEO Stephen Jones announced the new service at a press conference, which also included details about increased service on other popular YVR routes, including Las Vegas, Puerto Vallarta, and San Francisco.

Prices on the new route start at $129 including all taxes and fees. The flights depart from Vancouver in the afternoon and cost about the same on the return flight from Guadalajara; the return flight is a red-eye (overnight flight) departure from the Mexican City.

Flair has also kicked off service on a brand new route connecting YVR with Cancun International Airport (CUN). The service offers a low-cost option for local travellers looking for another nonstop option to Mexico's most popular tourist destination.

Prices on the route start at $129 (including all taxes and fees) to the sun-soaked hotspot from YVR, which is an unmatched price on a flight that connects the two cities.

But don't get too attached to the low-cost option.

The Cancun flight is seasonal and the last flight departs from Vancouver on May 3.

Flair also offers several cheap, direct flight options to cities on Mexico's Pacific coast, including return trips to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.

Before booking your flight, have a look at the updated Mexico travel advisory. There are some important considerations for various regions and some places are unsafe to visit at this time.
