Find travel tips on how to get cheap Vancouver flights from YVR airport to Rome, Italy using Google Flights.

While it is one of the world's most highly sought-after destinations, Rome typically costs a pretty penny for Vancouverites to visit.

Home of the Colosseum, the Italian capital wows visitors with awe-inspiring architecture, top art galleries and museums, sprawling markets, rich history, and a range of world-class restaurants. Vatican City, which is the headquarters of the Catholic church, is also surrounded by the metropolis.

Return trips from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) in Rome typically cost between $1,150 and $2,650 and always involve at least one stop, according to Google Flights.

But the online platform shows that tickets will fall several hundred dollars below the regular cost of a return ticket starting this fall.

An American Airlines flight departing from Vancouver on Sunday, Oct. 15, and returning from Rome a week later on Monday, Oct. 23 costs $875.56 including all taxes and fees. This ticket is roughly $743 cheaper than the regular price.

Keep in mind that the American Airlines basic economy ticket does not allow changes and you must pay to choose a seat in advance of a flight. Guests must also pay for bags and will be the last to board.

If you transfer to the main cabin, the ticket price will increase to $1,036 but you can make changes to the ticket, and change fees are included. You may also choose your seat and one free checked bag is included.

The flight includes one five-hour layover in London on the outbound journey with an overnight layover for 18 hours and 50 minutes on the return one. In this instance, you could book two tickets separately and extend the time spent in England on the way home.
