Hot deal: How to save hundreds on flights from Vancouver to Paris

Paris is always a good idea

Hoping to fly from Vancouver to Paris this spring or summer at a steal?

Unfortunately, the low-cost options provided by Vancouver International Airport (YVR) over the fall and winter months are slimming down as the temperatures climb up.

There are still some low-cost flights from Vancouver's airport to the French capital's Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), including a couple of options that depart in April, but they involve a couple of stops.

If you are looking for a round-trip option that costs under $800, there is one that departs from YVR on April 6 and makes a pair of stops in Kelowna and Calgary before arriving in France. It returns on April 10 but the return trip home involves three stops: London (Gatwick), Rome, and Calgary.

The total cost works out to $786 including all taxes and fees (see slide three for full details).

Alternatively, there is a flight that offers ultimate convenience at a bargain...but you will need to pay a little extra to take advantage of the deal.

A flight that departs from YVR on April 15 and returns on April 22 from CDG costs $873 including all taxes and fees; both flights are direct with Air France/Delta (see slide four for details).

Round-trip, direct flights to Paris cost significantly more through the summer months. The least expensive flights for similar trips to Paris usually cost between $1,150 and $2,200, according to Google Flights.

Flying from Seattle to Paris can shave hundreds off the ticket price

Flying out of Seattle International Airport (SEA) can save upwards of $150 to $250 on the cost of a round-trip ticket to CDG.

A flight that departs SEA on April 20 and makes one stop in Dallas and then one stop in Chicago on the way back from Paris costs $673 including tax.

The least expensive flights for similar trips to Paris usually cost between $1,200 to $2,750, according to Google Flights. In other words, travellers can expect to pay about half the price they regularly would by flying out of the other airport.

All prices are in Canadian dollars.
