#ArtistAtHome with Ashleigh Ball

Well it took a couple of tries to get together with today's #ArtistAtHome but it was definitely worth the wait. Despite having photographed her band, Hey Ocean for years we had only ever managed to say hello in passing.

Well it took a couple of tries to get together with today's #ArtistAtHome but it was definitely worth the wait. Despite having photographed her band, Hey Ocean for years we had only ever managed to say hello in passing. She can sing, rock the ukelele and kill the flute while standing in tree pose just like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. This is Ashleigh Ball!

As if being in a great band isn't enough, Ashleigh, is also a talented voice actor for children's animated TV shows. Most notable among her credits are voices for 'My Little Pony'. She was the subject in the 2014 documentary by her friend and filmmaker Brent Hodge called A Brony Tale, which depicts the unexpected phenomenon of the shows popularity with adult males.

As you can see she has quite a collection of items in her photo. You've probably noticed the dude with the fly hair, who is actually someone she knows and was painted by a friend of hers. Originally the piece was purchased at a charity auction, but the purchaser never picked it up so eventually the artist gifted it to her. The second item catching your eye is likely the giant stuffed squid that was made by a Hey Ocean fan. Many thanks to Ashleigh for a super awesome visit and for trading great lines from The Simpsons' Ralph Wiggum.

You can see Ashleigh perform at the 'Strike a Chord' benefit for Music Heals on October 20 at The Imperial.
