What was once only suspected, is now known.
Street preacher Dorre Love is being charged with aggravated assault for breaking sportscaster Justin Morissette’s leg this summer.
Morissette had confronted Love and another street preacher on the corner of Davie and Thurlow streets Aug. 22, asking them to stop anti-gay chanting with the use of an amplified microphone.
Instead of respecting his wishes, police said the 42-year-old evangelist threw Morissette, a local resident, to the ground.
It was then that the broadcaster broke his leg.
“I stood up to anti-gay evangelical bullies in the West End this evening,” Morissette posted to Twitter that same night, “and they purposefully broke my leg for the trouble.”
Love was arrested by police for the assault in August, then released. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

Aside from a long road to recovery, the Sportsnet 650 host had to have surgery inserting metal implants to hold his broken bones in the proper position.
“The VPD thoroughly investigate all allegations of assault and take each one seriously,” said Vancouver Police Department (VPD) Cst. Tania Visintin, Thursday.
“Investigators have worked hard and we are pleased to see charges have been approved by Crown counsel.”
