The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is seeking the public's help following a homicide in Maple Ridge.

RCMP were called after a body was discovered in a rural area near the 24500 block of Lougheed Highway Saturday afternoon.

Police deemed the circumstances as suspicious, and IHIT is now working closely with Ridge Meadows RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Services, and the BC Coroner's Service to investigate.

“At this time, the name of the victim is not yet known and investigators are working hard to confirm the identity,” says Detective Lara Jansen of IHIT.

“Though the area is rural, investigators believe that it does get used frequently by pedestrians, so we are asking anyone who has been in that area to contact IHIT.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448, email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
