When you steal something, it’s probably best to wait until you get home before admiring your day’s take.

A Burnaby thief learned this lesson the hard way after being nailed by Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

A car was broken into in the garage at Metropolis at Metrotown and the thief absconded with several expensive items, according to Transit Police.

The thief then boarded a SkyTrain, but a witness spotted the man “rummaging” through a backpack to see what he had stolen.

The witness then called Transit Police, who questioned the man and made an arrest.

Transit Police reminded riders to text them at 87-77-77 to report suspicious activity.
