The BC SPCA has extended its half-price adult cat adoption promotion to August 31 after its shelters up north were evacuated due to wildfires in the area.

“Our adult cats have so much love and personality to offer, having developed their temperaments at this point in their lives. This makes it easier to match them up with a potential guardian,” says Lorie Chortyk, BC SPCA’s general manager of community relations in a news release.

The SPCA has transferred 127 animals, including 75 kittens and 34 cats, out of its northern shelters to its other locations.

The event is sponsored by Hill's Science Diet and new pet owners will take home a complimentary bag of food for their new feline friend.

Regular adoption fees for adult cats range from $135 to $194 depending on the location.

Check out the BC SPCA website to browse available cats or visit one of their branches for more details.
