Fraser Health has issued a second public exposure warning for an Abbotsford seafood restaurant where several staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

This further exposure notice for Bow & Stern at 2551 Montrose Ave in the Fraser Valley city's downtown shopping district covers four additional days, more than doubling the number of days upon which diners may have come in contact with someone infected with the virus.

The following are the affected dates and times, according to Fraser Health.

  • Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Oct. 30 from 3:30 to 10 p.m.
  • Oct. 31 from 3-10 p.m.
  • Nov.1 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

On Nov. 3, Bow & Stern announced they were voluntarily closing temporarily in order to disinfect the restaurant and give test-positive staff time to recover and receive negative COVID tests.

Fraser Health issued a public exposure warning for the late afternoons and nights of Oct. 24, 25, and 26.

The restaurant, which also operates an unaffected outpost in Chilliwack, indicated Saturday they were also implementing further safety measures, including the installation of Plexiglass screens in the dining area.

Phone numbers for contact tracing?

Fraser Health lists public exposures on their website in order to reach any people who may have potentially become infected who they could not contact privately.

In response to queries from the public on their Facebook page, Bow & Stern says phone numbers provided by customers at the restaurant have been given to Fraser Health for contact tracing.

"There is no known risk to anyone who attended any listed locations outside of the specified dates and times. If people remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, there is no need to self-isolate and people can continue with their usual daily activities," explains the health authority.

If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, please seek testing and then self-isolate, urges the health authority.
