Cyclist dies in East Vancouver

VPD officers are investigating after a 30-year-old man fell, struck his head and died while cycling in Vancouver's east end on Friday, May 7.

A 30-year-old man is dead after suffering a head injury while riding his bike in East Vancouver Friday night.

Vancouver police told Vancouver Is Awesome that the man was cycling north on Rupert Street near 17th Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. on May 7 when, for unknown reasons, he fell from his bike and struck his head. 

"He was not wearing a helmet," added VPD Sgt. Steve Addison.  

Police are still investigating the incident to determine whether a vehicle was involved in the cyclist's fall.
