A second person has died on a Burnaby road in the past four days after an early-morning crash on Saturday.
The crash happened on Boundary Road, north of Marine Way at 6 a.m.
A 40-year-old man was driving a pickup truck heading southbound when he lost control and rolled the vehicle across into the northbound lanes, colliding with a car. The pickup truck landed on its roof.
The man died at the scene. Burnaby RCMP officers are now investigating.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Boundary is now closed in both directions with no ETA on when it will reopen.
An 88-year-old woman died after being struck by a driver in Burnaby on Wednesday afternoon.
Burnaby RCMP said that the pedestrian died after she was hit by a driver driving an SUV at the intersection of Willingdon and Beresford.
Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed these collisions or potentially have dash cam video in the area when the collisions took place to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
This past summer, the City of Burnaby made numerous changes to this intersection following years of complaints from area residents. The intersection involved drivers on Beresford trying to inch across Willingdon, so the city put up barriers to stop east-west traffic. Drivers heading north on Willingdon are able to turn left.
