Langley RCMP say the child was hit by a dark blue Nissan Rogue around 3.30pm on the 4900 block of 232nd Street.

RCMP say the driver, a 29-year-old woman from Langley, fled the scene but was found by police a short time after. She was taken into custody and it is believed she was impaired by alcohol.

Police allege the woman is also responsible for hitting an 18-year-old with her car near Langley Senior Secondary School earlier that day.  The teenager needed medical care but did not have life-threatening injuries.

The woman’s passenger was also arrested after he allegedly attempted to hide the vehicle after the collision.

The 12-year-old remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service has attended the collision scene on 232nd Street and will offer their support to Langley Criminal Collision Investigators.

Anyone who witnessed either collision and has not spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
