Richmond Costco recently notified its employees that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19. However, an anonymous source said this was the second such notification that Richmond Costco has sent to employees within days.

When contacted by the Richmond News, Costco wouldn't confirm whether there was a positive COVID-19 case at the facility. Vancouver Coastal Health’s website does not list Richmond Costco as having had a COVID exposure. However, VCH only issues public exposure alerts if it’s determined there is a risk of public exposure or contact tracing is not possible.

According to the notice sent out by Costco, the last day the employee who tested positive worked at the store was Oct. 4, and Costco is working cooperatively with any additional directions provided by the public health agency.

"We are undertaking additional cleaning and sanitation protocols and will continue with our daily enhanced cleaning. We will communicate directly with co-workers known to have been in close contact with the individual," read the letter.

"Current health guidelines state that people who have not been in close contact with a sick person are at low risk for infection."

This was the second notification of a positive COVID-19 case sent out to employees, according to a recent report from Ming Pao Daily News, a Richmond-based Chinese-language media organization quoting an anonymous source.

Two employees were tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 2 and 7, respectively added the source.
