An employee at a 7-Eleven in Downtown Vancouver has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a release, 7-Eleven Canada states that it is notifying customers who may have visited its store at 904 Davie Street on July 28 that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

"The health and safety of our customers, employees and the communities we serve is the top priority for 7-Eleven Canada. We are asking store staff to self-isolate, with pay, for 14 days," says the company.

Any customers who may have visited the store July 28 are asked to monitor their symptoms and use the self-assessment tool HERE.

If you develop any symptoms please call 811 for health guidance and information on actions you can take to protect yourself and others.

7-Eleven temporarily closed the store to thoroughly clean and sanitize the location and has since re-opened.

"As a neighbourhood store and convenient delivery provider in so many communities, 7-Eleven Canada has taken steps to prioritize the health of our customers and employees across our 636 stores in Canada. We have enhanced our standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing, sanitation, food handling and preparation in stores, and increased the frequency of cleaning high-touch surfaces. We have installed sneeze guards at sales counters and visual floor markers in checkout lines that reinforce social distancing, as well as limit customer traffic in stores."

In July, 7-Eleven Canada notified customers who may have visited at 710 W. 6th Ave & Heather St. between June 20 and July 6 that they may have been exposed to the virus.

COVID-19 is spread by respiratory droplets when a person who is sick coughs or sneezes. It can also be spread when a healthy person touches an object or surface (e.g. a doorknob or a table) with the virus on it, and then touches their mouth, nose or eyes before washing their hands. Most people who get COVID-19 have only mild disease, but a few people can get very sick and may need to go to hospital. The symptoms of COVID-19 may include fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell and/or diarrhea
