Distancing is awesome: Images from a beautifully empty Vancouver (PHOTOS)

Right now, good physical and social distancing habits are what's making Vancouver awesome

The cherry blossoms are out in full force, the rain didn't take over completely, and this weekend was a beautiful time to be outside in Vancouver.

But this was defnitely not a typical "last weekend in March" in and around the city.

It seems the message has been generally more well-received in recent days that physical and social distancing is what's expected of us.

Instead of flocking to parks and playgrounds, meeting up with pals on restaurant patios, or holding elaborate cherry blossom-themed photoshoots, Vancouverites keep things pretty low profile this past weekend.

That meant near-empty streets, taped-off playground equipment, and wide open spaces on popular walking paths - including Vancouver's iconic seawall.

Take a look at what this weekend looked like across Vancouver from those who ventured out, and who shared their photos with us on Instagram with the #vancouverisawesome hashtag. Because right now, social distance, our health care heroes, and looking out for our communities is what's making Vancouver awesome.
