Flood damages Vancouver House, repairs to last a month

Three elevators were down and 17 units were directly affected
Vancouver-House
At least 17 residences in high-end Vancouver House were damaged in a flood on April 15.

In a Titanic-esque turn of events, the massive residential high-rise Vancouver House flooded last week, damaging homes and elevators.

In a letter to residents Vancouver House Management explained a gasket on Level 29 of the building had failed on Thursday, April 15. That led to water cascading through the building.

The issue was reported at 8:50 p.m. and crews got there within half-an-hour, but not before 17 units were directly impacted and three elevators were shut down, according to Westbank, the developer behind the structure.

Repairs are estimated to take a month, though one elevator is back to working order and the other two are expected to be working this week. The building has almost 20.

"Georgia Mechanical is conducting a full investigation to address cause, repairs and prevention. They have been requested to replace all gaskets of this model in the building as soon as possible," states the management.

Some took to social media to share the issue.
