Here's how the City of Surrey got into the Game of Thrones spirit

While you may have gathered with friends for GOT season premiere viewing, in the City of Surrey, the Game of Thrones spirit was pretty strong from City Hall down.

Were you among the many fans camped out in front of your television Sunday night for the highly-anticipated return of Game of Thrones? While you may have gathered with friends for a viewing, in the City of Surrey, the Game of Thrones spirit was pretty strong from City Hall down, thanks to a fun social media campaign focused on the city's neighbourhoods.

"Rally the realm and raise your banners! Which house do you belong to?" tweeted @cityofsurrey.

The fun campaign includes a map of Surrey's "kingdoms," as in the city's six core communities: Whalley, Guildford, Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey.

Each of the six kingdoms has its own banner and slogan. Props to Surrey for Cloverdale's tagline of "Rodeo is coming."

With each tweet requesting a retweet to show neighbourhood pride, it would seem Fleetwood has the highest overlap centre on the Venn Diagram of Game of Thrones watchers and Twitter users.
