For anyone looking to burn a few extra calories before settling into their holiday eating routine, the Grouse Grind isn't currently an option.

The legendary local trail has been closed down due to weather conditions.

"Due to accumulations of snow and ice and forecasts for more snow, the Grouse Grind Trail is CLOSED effective Thursday, Dec. 19," cautions the advisory issued by Metro Vancouver

"Park staff will continue to assess conditions and will provide an update when conditions change."

For outdoor enthusists looking to use the BCMC Route as an alternate for some Decemeber hiking, take note that Metro Vancouver is reminding hikers they "should be prepared for full-on winter conditions. Wear hiking boots, winter clothing and carry microspikes."

The forecast for Grouse Mountain is for snow, and temps in the -1 to -4 range for the next few days.
