Richmond RCMP is investigating an incident outside the 7-Eleven on Steveston Highway that attracted a large police presence.
Social media was awash Monday evening with reports of a “mass brawl” at around 10 p.m. outside the store at the intersection with No. 1 Road.
According to a witness who posted on Facebook, up to 10 Mounties were in attendance to deal with the situation.
A statement released by Richmond RCMP confirmed they had responded to an incident in the area of No 1 Road and Steveston Hwy on the evening of May 18.
“A number of frontline officers responded to the area for an altercation involving a number of individuals. This matter remains under investigation,” the statement added.
Police didn’t say if there were any injuries or what caused the incident.
