After a rare snow day yesterday, Metro Vancouver students will be heading back to class Thursday.

Vancouver School Board, as well as the University of B.C. and Simon Fraser University, all announced early this morning that classes are back in session today.

Elsewhere in the region, schools in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Abbotsford are all OPEN.

Mission and Chilliwack school districts, however, remain closed Thursday.

Significant snowfall overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday turned Vancouver into a winter wonderland – leading to school closures across the region, traffic turmoil and transit troubles, with both TransLink and the provincial government advising residents to avoid all but essential travel.

This morning, TransLink is warning customers that service might still be slower than usual.
