The body of a woman reported missing to the University RCMP for several weeks has been located in Port Moody, RCMP have confirmed.
On Feb. 10, Monica Winter, a 61-year-old woman, was reported missing to the University RCMP after she failed to report for work as expected.
On March 18, in Port Moody, the body of a woman was recovered from the Burrard Inlet. The BC Coroners Service has since confirmed the identity as the missing woman from the University RCMP.
“While the BC Coroners Service will continue to investigate and attempt to determine cause of death, we do not believe criminality is involved in the woman’s death”, states Sgt. Eric Baskette of the University RCMP in a press release.
Winter leaves behind mourning friends who contacted the Burnaby NOW shortly after her disappearance in their efforts to find the woman, and her dog, Chloe, who had also gone missing.
The friends had been searching and putting up posters at Burnaby’s Fraser River Foreshore Park where Burnaby RCMP had located Winter’s vehicle—a blue Toyota Corolla.
Neither the RCMP nor BC Coroners Service have any more information available to share at this time, according to a press statement.
