Protesters are currently blocking the intersection of Broadway and Clark Drive in all directions.

Vancouver Police advised that the intersection of Commercial and Broadway was blocked due to the demonstration and traffic was not getting through. However, their latest tweet states that north and southbound traffic on Commercial is now open, but that the intersection of Broadway and Clark is now blocked. As such, drivers were advised to avoid the area.

TransLink has also tweeted a number of rider alerts due to the protest, which include detours on the 20,9, and 99 routes.

Hosted by Climate Convergence Metro Vancouver and the Wet'suwet'en Solidarity - Coast Salish Territory, the protest rally was announced in a Facebook event for 5 p.m. on Feb. 19.

Have a look at some of the images and videos from the demonstration.

The protestors are supporting First Nations opponents to a natural gas pipeline in northern B.C. The demonstration follows a week of protests across the country, including one that blocked off the Granville Street Bridge in both directions following a rally at the B.C. Supreme Court.
