Drivers are being advised to avoid Highway 1 heading southbound following a seven-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the incident at the bottom of The Cut just before Lynn Creek a little before 1:30 p.m.

There have so far been no reported serious injuries, according to assistant fire chief David Dales, of District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services.

“It was just a chain reaction accident,” said Dales. “We’re just going to need a bunch of tow trucks.”

The RCMP Highway Patrol are on scene and investigating the series of collisions, according to Dales.

Dales estimated that stretch of Highway 1 would likely be impacted by traffic for more than an hour, he said. Traffic is currently being diverted down the nearby Mountain Highway exit.

“Avoid everything about The Cut right now,” he said.
