Have your say: How would you like to see areas around the Broadway Subway develop?

The City of Vancouver is calling on the community to tell them how they’d like to see the neighbourhoods surrounding the Broadway Subway line take shape in the future.

The #MyBroadway storytelling campaign is now in full swing, and the city wants to hear from Vancouverites how they’d like Kitsilano, Fairview and Mount Pleasant to develop with the extension of the Millennium Line SkyTrain.

The Broadway Subway is a tunneled extension along the Broadway Corridor from the existing VCC–Clark Station to Arbutus Street. The line is fully funded with construction to start in 2020.

The city says it’s at the start of a comprehensive planning and engagement process for the area.

The plan will address the need for, increased job space, deepening housing affordability, minimizing the displacement of existing tenants, new or improved connections, improved parks and public spaces and new and renewed public amenities.

“The goal is to support growth while maximizing the opportunities associated with the new rapid transit connection to the region,” the city website states.

“In March 2019, we launched a two-year process to create a comprehensive Broadway area plan. Through the process, there will be ongoing opportunities to share your thoughts.”

The 30-year plan is set to focus on opportunities to integrate new housing, jobs, and amenities around the new Broadway Subway.
