Do you believe cannabis is best paired with chocolate-glazed fried dough?

If you answered yes, there's one Vancouver event happening this weekend that you just might want to mark on your calendar.

Vancouver's Muse Cannabis is celebrating the grand opening of its new downtown location on Saturday, Aug. 8, and it's inviting customers to 'wake and bake' to help mark the occasion - "proving it’s still possible to have fun in the midst of a pandemic within a heavily regulated industry," the shop explained in a release.

The first 50 customers in the door will receive two free donut coupons from Cartems Donuts, along with a "swag bag" filled with accessories that aim to help start the morning off right. Trees Coffee will also be on hand with enough complimentary joe to keep customers appropriately caffeinated.

“While we never could have imagined we’d have to navigate a new store opening in the COVID landscape, we are confident that in time the corner of Granville and West Pender will be thriving again,” said Geoff Dear, president of Muse Cannabis, in the release.

“With the Wake and Bake celebration we wanted to have fun, and challenge some long-held stereotypes at the same time. Waking and baking isn’t what it used to be — for example, many of our customers are simply looking to combat anxiety or get a boost of energy.”

Muse Cannabis, which described itself as "a family run business with a focus on community and creating positive change," will also be donating 10 per cent of sales from the event to its community partner, Music Heals, to help fund music therapy programs in the Greater Vancouver area.

Social distancing measures will be in effect, as well: All Muse staff will be wearing masks, while the shop is encouraging its customers to wear one as well. The number of people in the store at one time will also be limited in accordance with public health officials' social distancing recommendations.

This is the cannabis company's second Granville street location, with another located at West 15th Ave., while subsequent locations in North Van, Courtenay and Campbell River are said to be coming soon.
