Vancouver Police busted a driver with guns and drug paraphernalia at a random traffic stop this week.

In response to the incident, VPD write that,"Police officers quickly learn that there is no such thing as a simple traffic stop – they need to be fully alert and ready for anything."

Police say an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle near National and Terminal after he noticed the vehicle was being driven erratically and unsafely. He wanted to make sure the driver was okay.

However, when the officer walked up to the driver’s window, he noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, he discovered .22 calibre ammunition, an air soft pistol, and a loaded .22 calibre rifle with a homemade silencer attached to the gun.

The driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and firearms offences.

The guns and ammunition were seized and the investigation continues.
