Just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2018, officers were called to an assault at a shelter near Cambie and Robson streets. The victim, 49-year-old Ralph House, had sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital, where he died several days later.

An investigation was launched and Larry Johnson of Vancouver was arrested Wednesday without incident. He is facing one count of manslaughter.

“Homicide investigations can be complex and challenging cases to solve,” media relations office Const. Steve Addison said in a press release. “Our VPD investigators worked thoroughly and meticulously on this case to gather evidence. This incident was targeted, and there was never any risk to the public.”

Johnson remains in custody.
