Vancouver’s historic Vernon Drive Grocer property is up for sale (PHOTOS)

The 120-year-old property comes with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and its own convenience store

Now’s your chance to own one of Vancouver’s oldest and most unique properties and it comes with its very own grocery store.

On the corner of Vernon Drive and East Georgia Street sits 700 Vernon Drive. The 53.5 by 66-foot lot has a two-story character home built in 1901. In total there are four individual suites, one two-bedroom and two one-bedroom suites which are currently being tenanted. The property was recently listed by Sutton Group - West Coast Realty for $1,999,999.

According to the listing, there are several desirable features going for the property. Its closeness to the Union-Adanac Corridor bike path for one and it being a five-minute drive away from downtown Vancouver for another. The listing also notes its proximity to the new St. Paul’s Hospital development.

The listing goes on to say there are many opportunities to transform the unique property with fresh ideas. The Federal Store and Le Marché St. George properties, both refurbished corner stores, are given as examples.

Aside from the 1900s style home on the property, perhaps its most eye-catching feature is the adorable Vernon Drive Grocery store. In May of 2019, the store looked a little worse for wear with flaking paint and rust streaking down the building's facade. By September 2020 though the little shop underwent a restoration, returning it and its iconic Pepsi signs back to their former glory.

Aside from its $2 million price tag, the 3531 square foot lot with 2228 square feet of the living area will cost $6649.77 in annual property taxes.
