While Metro Vancouverites weren't privy to a great deal of snowfall over the weekend, local mountain resorts expect a great deal of the white stuff in the coming days.

But with a generous helping of fresh powder comes sizeable lineups of cars headed up the mountains, which means more crowding on the slopes.

A local took to Reddit Monday morning to share a video they recorded driving down Cypress Mountain that shows a massive line of cars heading up it.

Reddit user u/el_nerdtown appears to have turned back after reaching the top, as they mention the mountain was "packed" at 10 a.m. and parking lot 3B was full. They film the lineup for quite a while, and at one point mention that the line is "double-wide."

In the discussion below their post, numerous people mention that local ski hills are crowded despite online reservation systems.

Other Reddit users ask how so many people are able to hit the slopes on a weekday and mention that the crowds have turned them off venturing out.

Reddit user BobaVan writes, "Hard pass for me this year. That ain't worth it."

Similarly, literaryapothecary says, "Thanks for saving me a drive up. That looks terrible. Wish I didn't buy a cypress pass this year."

More snow coming to Metro Vancouver Mountains

While many people are put off by the long waits and crowds, others are determined to enjoy the wintry conditions in the mountains. And this week, it looks like alpine enthusiasts will have ample opportunities to do so.

Earlier today, Grouse Mountain Resort tweeted that it had seen 30 cm of fresh snowfall in the last 24 hours and that more was on the way.

Cypress Mountain Ski Resort on Hollyburn Mountain recorded 35 cm of snow in the past 24 hours, while Mount Seymour Resort recorded 32 cm.
