While The Weather Network predicted that it was highly unlikely, Environment Canada's latest forecast shows Vancouver could see flurries the night before Christmas.
Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 19, the Metro Vancouver weather forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of showers with rainfall in the evening. Southeast wind of 30 km/h is expected in the morning except 50 km/h near the water late in the afternoon. While 5 to 10 mm of rainfall are expected during the day, the forecast calls for amounts of 15 to 25 mm at night.
Friday and Saturday's forecasts also call for showers, with daily highs of 8°C and 7°C respectively. Daily lows are expected to dip to 5°C and 6°C. Sunday is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud during the day while the evening is expected to see a 60 per cent chance of showers.
Monday's forecast calls for showers during the day, however, the evening low is expected to dip down to 1°C. As such, the forecast is calling for a 60 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries. Similarly, Christmas Eve day calls for showers, but the evening also calls for a chance of rain showers or flurries.
Metro Vancouver Weather Forecast
While Vancouver offers a smorgasbord of holiday events, the city isn't likely to see snow on Christmas Day.
According to The Weather Network, the south coast of B.C. has the lowest chance of seeing a white Christmas across Canada. With that in mind, their forecast notes that there will be an abundance of snow on the mountain next week, which will be a boon for local ski resorts. However, the latest forecast from Environment Canada shows that Vancouver just might get its snowy Christmas, after all.
