It'll be getting windy in Vancouver soon.

Tomorrow is going to be a blustery day in the Stanley Park woods.

And everywhere else around Metro Vancouver.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Friday, forecasting winds hitting 70 km/h with gusts peaking at 90 km/h.

"Over Southern Gulf Islands and areas of Metro Vancouver near the Strait of Georgia, winds will increase to northwest 70 km/h gusting to 90 early Friday morning," states the government agency. "Winds will abate somewhat late Friday morning but will remain strong through early Saturday morning."

The warning is specifically for:

  • The City of Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster
  • The North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
  • Richmond and Delta

Similar warnings have been issued for southern Vancouver Island.

Other parts of the province are currently facing a winter storm warning, mostly through the Fraser Canyon and Coquihalla areas, while a snowfall warning has been issued for the Kootenays.
