Vancouver Pride Week 2021 is officially underway.

The Vancouver Pride Society and various dignitaries, including Mayor Kennedy Stewart, launched the week-long celebration with a flag-raising ceremony on July 26.

The flags include Transgender and Progress Pride flags on the north lawn of Vancouver City Hall.

In addition, four Two-Spirit flags from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, plus the Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society are being displayed as well.

Seven 2SLGBTQ+ couples were also married in separate ceremonies on July 26 as part of the city's micro-weddings program, co-sponsored by the Vancouver Pride Society.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, local Pride celebrations will be a mix of virtual and in-person events this year.

Vancouver Pride Week runs until August 1, culminating with a free online Decentralized Pride Parade.

Participants are encouraged to share photos through social media channels for a chance to win prizes and have them featured during the Pride broadcast.
