Premiering this Friday at the Olio Festival is an incredibly Vancouver-centric film called Do Something With Your Life directed by Darren Borrowman. Dubbed internally as "the little Vancouver movie that could" the unofficial working title for the film was actually "Vancouver Is Awesome"! They made the film for about $15,000 over the course of the last 3 years and while I don't imagine that independent filmmaking is an easy road to travel down producer Bob Woolsey told me that "At the end of the day our greatest asset was the city itself. No matter where you point the camera you've got a beautiful shot and no matter who you talk to they know someone who is involved in film in someway and they're always willing to lend a hand.". That is really awesome.

SYNOPSIS:

Mike Browne is in the middle of a quarter life crisis when Lindsay (the girlfriend that never was from high school) and Kara (the exciting new girl he falls in love with) both (re)appear in his life. Mike must navigate his feelings for both women while also trying to figure out who he is and what he wants out of life.

His best friend is an amateur wrestling manager, his brother just got in to university but doesn't want to go and his dad smokes more pot than he does. With no one to look to for guidance, Mike is left haphazardly wandering from one problem to the next with a feeling that life is passing him by.
