Meet the Vancouver artist creating queer cat-themed ceramics

Discover the cutest ceramics inspired by Vancouver's Catfe and a grumpy-faced feline named Charlie.

Tessa Reed is a Vancouver-based artist who loves to create cute cat-themed ceramics.

Reed is inspired by their cat, Charlie, who likes to "help" with every stage of the pottery process. Reed describes her as "one of the sweetest cats" but with "the grumpy face" that inspires many of the cartoon cat faces found in their pottery.

Whilst studying at Emily Carr University, Reed worked as a "purrista" at Catfe, Vancouver's first cat cafe. Here, Tessaramics was born from the combination of their love for clay and cats.

Today, Reed can be found in their Vancouver studio and at the Kingsmill Studio Shop on Granville Island.
