Our BC Was Awesome history show brings you all over the province, so far sharing 30 of the most interesting stories from the past.

The tale of B.C. artist Sveva Caetani is an odd one.

Her family moved to Canada from Italy in the 1950s, living a lavish lifestyle in a large home in Vernon.

When her father passed away, Sveva's mother became paranoid and essentially forbid her from leaving their home for years.

There's a lot more to the story, including Sveva finding art and becoming a prominent figure until her death in 1994.
