You could call Travis James ambitious.
The Vancouver singer-songwriter has one goal - to sing for everyone in the city.
It's a tall order but the grassroots musician is taking it one step at a time. The challenge is even harder during a pandemic as crowded venues are still not a reality again in B.C. just yet.
James' idea began three years ago when he started singing for people in concert lineups. Once COVID-19 emerged, and outdoor gatherings became all the rage, he hit the local beaches to serenade sun-seekers.
The singer has since harnessed the power of social media and become a rising TikTok star with his various impromptu performances.
His popularity is even expanding outside the province.
"I already have a lot of people from all over Canada that have messaged me. I'm sure once lockdown ends there will be opportunities to take this beyond the city," says the singer.
For now, James will continue connecting with more Vancouver residents and the artist is thrilled with the support he's received.
"I think every true songwriter the goal is just to connect with people, that's why you write music, and to feel like your own city is giving you this much love, I'm just super grateful for that."
