Paul Lambert and Tristan Myles are seeing plenty of stars as of late, taking home an award Sunday (February 24) at the celebrity-laden Oscars for work on the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man.

The Vancouver-based Brits were among the four First man team members who took to the stage during the 91st Academy Awards broadcast to accept their Best Visual Effects Oscar.
“What a truly magnificent moment. We did things a little bit differently on First Man and being recognized by the Academy is all the more special,” Lambert, a visual effects supervisor at DNEG’s Vancouver office, said during the live broadcast.
“And a big shout-out to Michelle Eisenreich, Reuben Poulter and my people at DNEG Vancouver.”
Eisenreich is a Vancouver-based executive producer at Double Negative.
Digital effects supervisor Myles also acknowledged DNEG’s B.C. team during his acceptance speech.
“Thanks to the crew at DNEG without whose hard work we wouldn’t be [standing] up here tonight,” he said.
It’s the second Best Visual Effects Oscar for Lambert in as many years after he won in 2018 for his work on the sci-fi movie Blade Runner 2049.
Coincidentally, Canadian actor Ryan Gosling stars in the lead role in both First Man and Blade Runner 2049.
