Metro Vancouver weather: Sunny days, highs up to 30 C expected

The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes temperatures climbing steadily through the week, culminating with temperatures about 10 C above the seasonal average. 

Locals may also have the chance to view the northern lights on several days this week, with a mix of sun and cloud or clear, cloudless conditions expected, providing ideal conditions for aurora viewing. 

Starting on Tuesday, June 3, V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a daytime high of 23 C and an overnight low of 12 C, with mostly clear conditions. 

Temperatures are anticipated to dip several degrees on Wednesday, falling to a high of 18 C. However, temperatures are expected to start climbing Thursday, with a high of 21 C in the downtown core.

After temperatures plateau on Friday, Saturday's forecast includes above-average heat. The downtown area is expected to see a high of 24 C, while Sunday shows a high of 26 C. 

Tsawwassen is expected to see the same daytime highs as downtown Vancouver over the weekend. 

Other parts of Metro Vancouver may see even warmer weather. For example, the Burnaby West neighbourhood may see temperatures climb as high as 28 C and 30 C on the weekend. Surrey City Centre is expected be warmer than Vancouver but cooler than Burnaby, with highs of 25 C and 28 C. 

In the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford has daytime highs of 26 C and 30 C on the weekend.

The seasonal average for a daytime high is 18 C at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), according to Environment Canada's historical climate data.
