Metro Vancouver weather: Temperatures to soar to 23 C before rain returns

Vancouverites have some sunshine to look forward in the next few days.

The seven-day Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes several sun-kissed days with rising temperatures before rain rolls into the region again.

Starting on Thursday, May 22, V.I.A.'s Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a high of 17 C and a low of 10 C with a mix of sun and cloud. Skies are expected to clear in the afternoon. Friday is expected to see similar temperatures, although the overnight low is expected to be slightly warmer at 11 C (see slide two).

Saturday's forecast continues the warmer trend, with the downtown core expected to see temperatures climb to 20 C.

Other parts of the region are expected to see similar conditions, although some areas may see warmer temperatures. Surrey City Centre is expected to be slightly warmer on Saturday, with temperatures climbing to 21 C. Coquitlam Centre's forecast includes even milder temperatures, reaching highs of 18 C and 22 C on Friday and Saturday.

Other neighbourhoods will see even warmer temperatures. In Burnaby West, for example, daytime highs are expected to reach 19 C and 23 C on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Seven-day Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes possible showers

In the downtown core, Sunday's forecast includes a 20 per cent chance of showers with up to 3 mm of precipitation possible. However, other neighbourhoods don't appear to run the risk of wet weather. In Abbotsford, for instance, the forecast shows a mix of sun and cloud with only a 3 per cent risk of the wet stuff.

Monday's forecast includes widespread showers across the region, with the downtown centre showing as much as 6 mm of precipitation.

But Environment Canada Meteorologist Lisa Erven told V.I.A. in a previous interview that next week's forecast has quite a bit of uncertainty, and the international weather models aren't in agreement about exactly how it will play out.

"I don't see any significant storms, but locals should be prepared for cooler, wetter weather," she adds.

Locals should enjoy the next few days of warm weather while conditions remain dry.
