Photos: Massive double rainbow arching across Metro Vancouver

Upcoming rainfall in the regional forecast could mean more rainbows ahead this week.

An expansive double rainbow arched over Vancouver on Tuesday, May 20.

Metro Vancouverites may have to contend with more rainfall than the average city dweller, but stormy spring weather allows rainbows to manifest (pots of gold at the end of them aren't promised).

Following light showers on Tuesday evening after 7 p.m., the sun began shining, and numerous locals spotted the colourful natural phenomenon in the sky.

Have a look at some photos of the colourful double rainbow in the Lower Mainland.

Metro Vancouver weather forecast

Locals may have more opportunities to spot another rainbow in the coming days.

Although some temperatures could climb up to 24 C over the weekend, some "turbulent spring weather" with wetter, cooler periods should be expected between drier, sunnier days, Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Erven told V.I.A. in a previous interview.

Thursday is expected to be mainly sunny with the daytime high climbing to seasonal (18 C). A system is expected to bring showers on Friday, bringing temperatures down several degrees.
