blueberries a plenty!

This is how dumb I am: I had no idea that Richmond was awash in blueberries. I always thought that they were a Fraser Valley thing, leaving Richmond for cranberries... boy was I ever wrong.

Since this year is one of the best in memory for blueberries, we decided to go and pick our own, something that I've never done... I picked raspberries as a kid, and it was terrible, so I imagined that picking blueberries would be the same... long hard work in the blistering sun...

These blueberries practically leapt off of the branches into our buckets. In around 20 minutes, we'd picked 13lbs of blueberries, bringing our haul to a grand total of $13... wow! Now that's a deal! (not as many as Jeff Choy's $150 haul... but enough for now...)

Apparently the season will be over soon, so if you have a few minutes to head out to Richmond (the farms are everywhere... we were on #4 RD south of Blundell, but they dot the farmlands...), do some easy picking. All you need is a bucket and you're set!
