The Waldorf Hotel—Grand Opening Halloween Party

Where & when: Saturday, October 30th, 2010 @ The Waldorf Hotel, 1489 East Hastings Street, 6PM-2AM

Cost: FREE!

Why you should go: Come celebrate the launch of the new Waldorf Hotel with a ***FREE*** multi-room Halloween party that will showcase the entire complex (including our newly renovated hotel rooms and lobby, two dining areas, a freshly restored 1950s tiki bar and both nightclub and banquet spaces - the Cabaret and the Leeteg Room). The event is being produced in collaboration with some of Vancouver’s most interesting artists and musicians including performances by Rodney Graham, Animal Bodies & Joyce Collingwood. DJ sets by Stan Douglas, Phil Western, Ryan Moore, Mr Pablo & David Wisdom. Dance Party by Ice Cream Social (Trevor Risk, Cam Dales and Tyler Fedchuk)and Soul Club (Slimroy & Jonny Was). Installation by Paul Wong (site specific work, “The Hotel”) and visual presentations by Presentation House Gallery & David Wisdom.

Cool extras: Firstly because the party is FREE and over 3500 people have RSVP'd already meaning this party is going to be insanely fun!  Also the new Barbarella Salon at The Waldorf will be doing free hair and make-up all night long for those with costumes - that is awesome!

The Nobodies of Comedy Show

Where & when: Every Tuesday @ Raw Canvas, 1040 Hamilton St., Yaletown, 9PM

Cost: $5 ... plus if you wan to paint canvases range from $45-105.

Why you should go: Produced by comedians Darcy Michael and Jane Stanton, The Nobodies of Comedy takes place every Tuesday at Raw Canvas. Featuring the best in local, national and international Comedians with new themes every week, no show is like the last - check the Facebook page for this weeks feature. Plus, nothing goes better with live comedy than painting!

Cool extras: This week (Nov. 2nd) there will be FREE beer sampling!

CREATIVEMIX

Where & when: Thursday, November 4th, 2010 @ The Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews (Corner of Davie & Pacific), 9AM-6:30PM

Cost: Conference Pass: $99 + tax ($110.88)

Why you should go: CREATIVEMIX is for both emerging and established creative professionals, brining them together in an atmosphere of idea making and collaboration.  CREATIVEMIX attracts people from a variety of industries such as Animation & Digital Arts, Advertising & Marketing, Photography, Fine Arts, Architecture & Design, Fashion, Film & TV, Theatre & Performing Arts, Music, Culinary Arts and, yes, even Business.  The speakers for this year's event are some of Vancouver's most creative minds in a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear them speak during a single event.  The 2010 keynote speakers are Dan Mangan, Dylan Brown, Norman Armour, Chan Hon Goh, Natalie Purschwitz, Kris Krug, Mark Shieh, Vida Jurcic, Nigel Yonge & Sean Carter.

Cool extras: A performance by Bohdi Jones during the day and during the 'Think and Drink Reception' (Mix Lounge) DJ Joel Armstrong will be spinning - plus other performances throughout the day and beer from Storm Brewing.  Could this day get any more amazing?!
