Tonight! The Rio Theatre is gonna get medieval (as in, 35 mm!) on your a$$!
I never get tired of watching this. If it existed as a feature length, the world would be a better place.
Have you been to a midnight movie at The Rio yet? If you have then you know that tonight the path of the righteous man will lead you to the Commercial and Broadway area. If you haven't been yet, then you should know that while The Rio doesn't permit uncomfortable silences or serve $5 milkshakes or tasty burgers at their Friday midnight shows, you can win trophies. Sometimes for dancing, but usually for costumes. Admission is $8 but if you come in costume, it's only $7.
Mr Wolf is currently unavailable to help solve the dilemma you may be finding yourself in as to whether or not you should head out tonight. May I suggest:
1) Go with a buddy and dress like a couple of dorks;
2) Finally get a chance to break out that leather Gimp wear you've been dying to use (it's East Van - it's cool, palooka);
3) Impress the ladies (and the boys) with your killer Christopher Walken impression;
4) Get out of the house and see this classic the way it's meant to be seen - on the big screen in 35mm with a bunch of other people who love it as much as you do. Why not be social with your fellow Vancouverites tonight? You know, walk the earth, meet people... get into adventures. Like Caine from Kung Fu.
